Birmingham Ceremonies / GBA executive producer Zoe Snow , We Are The Fair CEO Nick Morgan and FRUKT head of live Fran Martin .
Among the many topics raised was the stress caused by people working long hours to make up for a lack of staff . Morgan said it was vital to prevent people from working what has been coined “ hero hours ”. Martin said that when employing people , companies should be looking to increase diversity in the workforce by considering what the “ culture add ” would be of employing someone rather than looking for a “ culture fit ”. Phillip made the point that it was important to establish the best communication channels to all communities in order to improve diversity in the workforce : “ The doors are open but no one is pushing them or knocking on them because they don ’ t know the roles exist .”
Loveridge discussed the importance of training and education , and that it was important to tell interesting stories about current event professionals in order to inspire the next generation . Among the many points raised by Snow was that there is a perception that there are corporate parties and festivals but very little in between in the events industry , and so the breadth of what it does needs to better communicated to young people .
