Proposal to shrink the Premier League
The English Football League ( EFL ), alongside Manchester United and Liverpool football clubs , has proposed a radical plan called ‘ Project Big Picture ’ that it said will save the EFL ’ s finances .
The EFL represents clubs below the Premier League in League One , Two and Three . Among its proposals are dropping the number of teams in the Premier League from 20 to 18 , scrapping the EFL cup and the Community Shield .
In return , EFL would get 25 % of all future TV deals and a £ 250m bailout . £ 100m would be paid to the Football Association to make up for lost revenue .
EFL clubs not able to welcome fans to stadiums have struggled financially , more so than Premier League clubs which receive money from broadcasting deals .
The Premier League said the proposal could have a devastating impact on the whole game .
Live Music to return to The O2
After an eight-month hiatus live music will return to The O2 arena ( cap 23,000 ) on 5 December when local act Squeeze takes to the stage .
The all seated , 4,700-capacity , show format will see groups of audience members sat at least one metre part . Tickets can be purchased in groups of twos , threes and fours .
All ticketing will use AXS Mobile ID via The O2 venue app , which also enables pre-ordering of food and drink as well as merchandise . The wearing of face coverings will be mandatory , except when eating and drinking while seated . The show will end at 10pm .
O2 Arena owner AEG has purchased electrostatic foggers that deliver a charged anti-bacterial spray covering all surfaces in the venue and providing protection for up to 30 days . There will be a heightened cleaning regime before , during and after the event .
The O2 GM & VP Steve Sayer said , “ We have been working incredibly hard to bring back events at The O2 and put measures in place to ensure our fans will have a safe and Covid-19 secure experience .”
