MAY | THE ANATOMY OF… Stats with Attitude Deaf and disabled fans form a passionate and growing contingent of music events, says disability-led charity and Arts Council England Sector Support Organisation Attitude Is Everything A ttitude is Everything supports non-profit and commercial organisations to make what they do more accessible and inclusive for Deaf and disabled people. Its core work is focussed on working in partnership with audiences, artists and the live music to make live music accessible. The voices and experiences of disabled people are at the heart of everything we do. Its ethos is that disabled people should be as independent as they wish to be in any aspect of their lives, including when seeking to access live music and outdoor events. 1 in 10 Attitude is Everything estimates that Deaf and disabled people (and people with chronic health conditions and impairments who might not personally idenity as such) account for 1 in 10 UK live music attendees 3million More than 3million Deaf and disabled people attend live music events every year Over 170,000 Deaf and disabled people attended 165 Charter venues and festivals in 2017/18, generating income of over £8.2m £8.2m Over 160 venues and festivals across the UK have signed up for AIE's Venue and Festival Charter of Best Practice 160 12 As accessibility increases, so too does customer demand. A recent snap-shot of 20 Charter venues and festivals showed that Deaf and disabled audiences increased by 151% on average between 2014-2018 after making improvements 151% Over 1,500 mystery shops of live music events have contributed to AIE's current advice and guidance to date 1,500
