Chooz
Following a certain black-tie London charity event, and the problems
highlighted, Chooz, a new online platform for staffing events, looks to
tackle thE issue. Staff post hourly rates, photos and brief details, accessed
by organisers looking for staff. Staff are paid the rate agreed and work
the hours specified, whilst organisers can cut the costs of recruitment
agencies and hand-pick their event staff. Moreover, staff are protected
fully under UK employment laws, including paid leave, employer pensions
and sick pay. Both employers and staff are rated transparently, with
a Whistleblower Policy allowing employees to report inappropriate

Robe accompanies Joss Stone
Robe moving lights were chosen
to supply Joss Stone’s recent, one
night only gig in Windhoek, Namibia.
Lighting director Ramon le Roux of
A&R Technologies chose to augment
the house lighting rig with twelve Robe
Spiiders for the main wash fixtures, and
seven 600E Spots for the hard-edged
luminaires. For front generic lighting,
he utilised three 25-50 profiles and a
couple of 2K fresnels gelled in CTB,
together with a dozen of the theatre’s
LED and conventional PARs. They
also hung a collection of dimmable
light bulbs above the ceiling for
