Leighton Live latest of many festivals to cancel

Leighton Live festival ( cap . 9,999 ), organised by Northern Powerhouse Events , is among several UK music festivals to be cancelled this summer
The event , created by the team behind Highest Point festival , was due to take place on Queen ’ s Jubilee bank holiday weekend ( 3-5 June ) but organisers said rising costs meant it could not go ahead .
Other festivals cancelled recently include Breakout in Fife , Bournemouth High Tide Festival , Northern Love in St Helens , Brainchild Festival in East Sussex , Festiva in Lancashire , and Newcastle ’ s Leazes Live and This is Tomorrow .

Leighton Live was due to take place at Leighton Hall Estate in Lancashire , with a line-up including UB40 , Ministry of Sound Disco and Sister Sledge .
Northern Powerhouse Events said , “ Events are ridiculously expensive things to stage , with the ever-increasing costs required to put each one on covered not only by the ticket sales but by the bars and on-site catering too .
“ It has taken us the past four years to get Highest Point Festival to the point where it breaks even and has a secure future , and continuing with Leighton Live would heavily jeopardise that .”
Bestival and Camp Bestival co-founder Robert Goreham is being sued £ 650,000 by TicketLine for allegedly failing to repay in full a loan taken out to support Bestival ( cap . 40,000 ) before the festival business went into administration in 2018 .
Goreham , otherwise known as Rob Da Bank , appeared at Central London County Court where Ticketline accused him of refusing to pay back around £ 650,000 of a £ 1m loan that was provided to keep Bestival afloat .
Ticketline said it provided the loan directly to Goreham and co-director John Hughes to “ save the day ”, because they were not convinced their money would be safe if loaned to the Bestival company .
In 2019 , Live Nation Entertainment ’ s LN-Gaiety and SJM Concerts formed a 50 / 50 joint venture to acquire
Bestival and Camp Bestival ( 26,000 ). The events had been forced into administration by major creditor The Richmond Group , which went on to acquire the assets for £ 1.1m via a newly formed company , Safe Festivals Group .
While Bestival is no longer being staged , Live Nation has expanded Camp Bestival to a second site this year . The 30,000-capacity familyorientated festivals will take place in Weston Park on 18-21 August in Shropshire and at Dorset ’ s Lulworth Castle on 28-31 July .
