Coldplay are poised to break the record for the highest grossing tour of all time after frontman Chris Martin announced an additional 138 extra dates on the band’ s Music of the Spheres World Tour in 2027.

The tour, which began in 2022, has grossed £ 1 billion, making it the second highest grossing tour of all time behind Taylor Swift’ s Eras Tour that totalled £ 1.5bn. With Coldplay’ s lengthy run understood to be earning £ 4.8 million per night, with an additional 138 shows scheduled the band are now on track to surpass Swift’ s record.
Pollstar’ s analysis of touring artists revealed the Music of the Spheres World Tour was the highest grossing tour globally for the first half of 2025.
Coldplay have broken a series of records with their mammoth tour. Concerts at India’ s Narenda Modi Stadium were the band’ s most attended stadium shows of their career, filling out the 111,000-capacity venue. The tour is also the highest attended ever by a group, and the band broke the record jointly held by Swift and Take That by becoming the first musical act to play 10 nights at Wembley Stadium in a single tour.
Music of the Spheres has also reached several sustainability targets with CO2 emissions significantly reduced from previous Coldplay tours.
Before the next chapter of Coldplay’ s tour in 2027, they will curate next year’ s FIFA World Cup final half-time show in New Jersey.
At the Wembley Stadium shows, grassroots music campaign bodies Save Our Scene and the Music Venue Trust hosted the Fan Zone for the band’ s 10-night run, which saw 10 % of proceeds go to support grassroots venues, artists and promoters.
Speaking on stage at Wembley Stadum, Martin said the 2027 shows will be“ a really special thing”.
