CO-DESIGN IN ACTION We were lucky to have Elisa Pozzi, the young entrepreneur of Zipo farm, to be our codesign user. Especially the location of co-design is right in the farm where she lives and works with her family, so we get to know not only the journey associated from milk to cheese, but to discover how environment, people, and objects nearby can interact with this process. Firstly we started by introducing the design game “A day in Zipo” for today and what gadgets we can use together to play. It required very little explanation before we started to play with Elisa’s journey as a cheese craftsman. As you can see, the clock, avatars, emotions and markers are basic yet effective tool for our co-designers to visualize what’s on their mind. It’s not a cold ping-pong interview sessions that we asked question to receive answers. In the beginning, users might hesitate to touch the tool but once the facilitator starts play with it, users follow naturally and it’s exciting to see how they liberate their expressions and have fun while engaging themselves in the creation process. While users are constructing their stories during the play, observation and probing is important for us to discover deeper insights. 78
