Partnerships are key in the AFC combat
Law enforcement ( LE ) in the U . S . is aware that financial crimes are increasing yearly and is taking a proactive approach through collaborative efforts such as private-public partnerships and partnerships between LE agencies .
Ceasing the efforts of financial criminals is an uphill battle . In order to make a significant impact in protecting society and contributing to the global fight against crimes such as money laundering , investment fraud , cryptocurrency and romance and business email compromise scams , LE agencies have seen positive results through collaborative efforts . Through public-private partnerships , LE can help financial institutions ( FIs ) identify criminal financial activity and assist the institutions in mitigating financial crime , as well as work with private partners to educate the public about financial crime . Through interagency partnerships , LE agencies can combine their expertise and resources to more effectively pursue their anti-financial crime endeavors . The following case studies offer examples of how such collaborations helped thwart some financial crimes that have been in the news recently .
