ACADEMY OF DIGITAL DOCTORS JOURNAL 4 HUMAN GENE Evolution of mankind: The Story of Communication I want to start off with a simple question — when do you think wireless communication was invented? Late 20th century? 19th century? You are not even close. It was actually invented more than 2,000 years ago, through... smoke signals! Not the kind of wireless communication, you were thinking of, I guess. But well, that is the oldest form of communication. Fast forward 1,200 years and meet Sultan Nur-ed-din, who built pigeon lofts and dovecotes in Cairo and Damascus; people were now using pigeons to carry messages from Egypt to cities as far away as Baghdad, in modern day Iraq. This pigeon messaging system was extremely helpful in both WWI and WWII — by delivering vital messages that helped to save the lives of thousands of civilians and combatants alike.
