PRE-CALCULUS 12
Prerequisite
Course Credit Course Duration Delivery Method
86 % or higher in Pre- Calculus 11
4 credits Full year Classroom-based
Pre-Calculus 12 focuses on the Big Ideas of inverse operations, mathematical modeling, and transforming functions. These Big Ideas and the content areas are connected through the competencies of reasoning, understanding, communicating, and connecting; in addition, students’ mathematical habits of mind are strengthened through these competencies. Topics include transformations, trigonometry, logarithms, rational functions, polynomial functions, geometric sequences and series, and extensions. This course is intended for students with a strong mathematics background who are interested in both theoretical and applied mathematics.

Pre-Calculus 12 for AP is intended for students in Grade 11 who are interested in taking AP Calculus AB or BC in Grades 12; this fast-paced course focuses on the Big Ideas of inverse operations, mathematical modeling, and transforming functions. In addition, students will learn Calculus concepts( limits and continuity) as well as optional advanced topics. These students should also have the opportunity to write the AP Pre-Calculus examination in May. This course is intended for students with a strong mathematics background who are interested in both theoretical and applied mathematics.
