Our goal is to equip students with the relevant 21st century linguistic competencies enabling a lifelong appreciation for the target language and promoting cultural understanding in a global community . Through interactive and engaging programs in French , Mandarin , and Spanish , students develop the core components required for language acquisition : listening , speaking , reading , writing and cultural literacy . A virtual language laboratory , as well as multimedia and online resources strengthen our programs by integrating technology to explore the concepts and content , cultivating linguistic proficiency . Assessments across all language courses from 8 to 12 follow the same standards that outline the skills that students learn and apply in foreign language courses . Grade 12 ( 11 accelerated ) and AP courses follow the AP College Board ’ s AP standards .
Starting from the year 2024-25 , our K-12 language programming will empower students to select and follow a language pathway ( s ) within their Grade 9 year . Our programming will support our students in fostering deeper language acquisition skills , higher linguistic proficiency , and meaningful cultural understanding .
