The emphasis of Mandarin 11 ( 10 Accelerated ) is to help students communicate more fluently and effectively in real-life situations by using idiomatic expressions . Students will improve their interpersonal communication skills as well as their abilities to present and interpret language , particularly in reading and writing . Students will also examine and discuss the characteristics of Chinese customs and traditions as well as to demonstrate cultural sensitivity through appropriate behaviors and language . Assessment includes interpretive , interpersonal , and presentational modes of communication .

Mandarin 12 ( 11 Accelerated ) is designed for students to develop their command of interpersonal communication skills including idiomatic expression . Equal emphasis is placed on all four language skills : listening , speaking , reading and writing . Students will continue to explore the cultural and historical aspects of the target language while articulating their ideas on diverse topics , enriching their understanding and appreciation of its context . Upon successful completion of this course , students may continue with AP Chinese Language and Culture . This course is open to Grades 10 and 11 . Assessment includes interpretive , interpersonal , and presentational modes of communication , using AP standards .
