Mandarin 12 ( 11 Accelerated ) is designed for students to develop their command of interpersonal communication skills including idiomatic expression . Equal emphasis is placed on all four language skills : listening , speaking , reading and writing . Students will continue to explore the cultural and historical aspects of the target language while articulating their ideas on diverse topics , enriching their understanding and appreciation of its context . Upon successful completion of this course , students may continue with AP Chinese Language and Culture . This course is open to Grades 10 and 11 .
