Ivy Compass 11 is a discussion-based , interactive course taken by all Grade 11 students . Through a variety of learning methods , students will explore the major theme of “ Who am I as a leader ?” as they continue to develop skills that will enable them to be more successful in both their academic and personal lives . Lessons and activities aim to further students ’ critical thinking and decision-making abilities as they further refine their understanding of the links between personal development and their future goals . Education will focus on three main areas including collaboration , leadership and being community minded . Advisory groups support the Ivy Compass curriculum through discussion , engagement , and the creation of digital portfolio content .

Ivy Compass 12 is a discussion-based , interactive course taken by all Grade 12 students . Through a variety of learning methods , students will explore the major theme of “ Who am I in action ?” as they continue to develop skills that will enable them to be more successful in both their academic and personal lives . Ivy Compass 12 curriculum is supported through a variety of cross-curricular courses and culminates with a final Ivy Compass project presentation . Further , advisory groups support the Ivy Compass curriculum through discussion , engagement , and the creation of digital portfolio content .
Outdoor Education Program
Outdoor education is an integral part of our students learning and development . Outdoor education enriches the learning of our students “ to foster selfconfidence , resilience , and creativity to enable each student to reach her unique potential ” as per our mission statement . Outdoor pursuits , for many , are lifelong activities which promote physical and emotional well-being and provide the necessary relief from the stress of everyday routines . Outdoor education trips provide opportunities for crosscurricular integration , teamwork and collaboration , leadership development , community building , and authentic connection to the natural world .

Outdoor Activities and Backcountry Skills
• Safely introduce students to a variety of outdoor activities and facilitate the learning of basic backcountry skills
• Create opportunities for students to step outside their comfort zone
Personal and Social Development
• Provide experiences to develop positive character traits such as self-confidence , selfreliance , leadership , collaboration , respect , responsibility and communication
Environmental Education
• Provide experiences for students to connect with the natural world
• Promote an appreciation of the natural environment and good stewardship of the earth through educational opportunities in the outdoors and the teaching of wilderness ethics
Academic Integration
• Recognize that outdoor education is part of the total learning experience and can include many subject areas ( English , social studies , science , drama , history , geography , physical education )
