Students with a solid linguistic background will further develop their linguistic competence by completing more complex activities in all skill areas , including novel studies . Students will be prepared to move through the curriculum at an accelerated rate in order to complete French 12 by the end of their Grade 11 year . Assessment includes interpretive , interpersonal , and presentational modes of communication .

Prerequisite Previous year ’ s performance , recommendation from teachers and / or Department Head . Course Credit N / A Course Duration Full year Delivery Method Classroom-based have 5 or more years of experience with French and a proficiency at a higher level than those in the French 8 program . As the foundational concepts are learned at a faster rate , there are more opportunities for more enriched activities and initiatives . Assessments are the same as the French 9 level .

French 9 ( 8 Accelerated ) students continue to build on their solid foundations with focus given to the development of analytical and creative skills . Emphasis is placed on mastery and integration of all four language skills : reading , writing , listening , and speaking . Activities and themes promote the use of interpersonal , interpretive , and presentational modes of communication . Students in this class receive credit for French 10 . Assessment includes interpretive , interpersonal , and presentational modes of communication .

French 10 students ’ language acquisition previously studied are further developed in this course . Students are encouraged to implement linguistic structures in real-life settings . Formal grammar study supports and strengthens student communication skills . Opportunities for collaboration encourage students to share knowledge on Francophone culture .
