Our goal is to equip students with the relevant 21st century linguistic competencies enabling a lifelong appreciation for the target language and promoting cultural understanding in a global community . Through interactive and engaging programs in French , Mandarin , and Spanish , students develop the core components required for language acquisition : listening , speaking , reading , writing and cultural literacy . A virtual language laboratory , as well as multimedia and online resources strengthen our programs by integrating technology to explore the concepts and content cultivating linguistic proficiency . Assessments across all language courses from 8 to 12 follow the same standards that outline the skills that students learn and apply in foreign language courses . AP courses follow the AP standards set by the AP College Board .
