Ivy Compass 8 is a discussion-based , interactive program taken by all Grade 8 students . Through a variety of learning methods , students will explore the major theme of “ Who am I ?” as they begin to develop skills that will enable them to be more successful in both their academic and personal lives . Lessons and activities aim to further students ’ critical thinking and decision-making abilities within the context of the four compass quadrants : new horizons , environmental education , service learning , and world citizenship . Education will focus on self-awareness , resilience , and connectedness , with the intention of graduating inspired leaders and agents of change . Ivy Compass 8 curriculum is facilitated through “ Ivy Compass ” days , where students are taken out of their regularly scheduled classes and immersed in experiential activities . Further , advisory groups support the Ivy Compass curriculum through discussion , engagement , Project Wayfinder activities , and the creation of digital portfolio content .
