This course aims to build on student ’ s existing interests in art with a view to improving and expanding their skills in a broad spectrum of materials , technologies and processes . 2D and 3D options include , but are not limited to , painting , digital drawing , and ceramics . Through critical and reflective thinking skills , students will create works of art that resolve creative challenges . Where possible , the course includes a field trip or a visiting guest artist . Assessment will include evidence of creative process and visual outcomes .
The Big Ideas explored in this course are :
Art Studio 11 is an extensive course that guides students through the creative process necessary in order to gain the confidence to produce artwork that is personal , well informed , skillful and innovative . During this process students will produce written and visual analysis of the work of other artists , craftmakers and designers . Throughout the course students will be encouraged to recognize their own personal flair , style and interests in art and to use this understanding to help motivate and guide the direction of their artwork . The course is structured around theme-based projects , plus several smaller investigations .. For students wishing to build a portfolio for university application , the structure of the course can be modified to support them , and they will also receive technical support in this process . Where possible the course includes a gallery visit , field trip or a visiting guest artist . Assessment will include oral and written presentations , sketchbook development , and several fully resolved , original artworks .
