The aim of this course is to help students develop the knowledge and skills they need to make informed choices for their education , career and life outside of school . The complexity and fluidity of the modern workplace demands graduates who are able to navigate and build their own career paths while adapting to continual change . Through Career Education , students will understand how to effectively manage their life journey toward several possible preferred futures . Furthermore , they will learn relevant planning , problem-solving , and collaboration skills , as well as core communication , thinking , and personal and social competencies .
The Big Ideas explored in this course are :
• Career-life choices are made in a recurring cycle of planning , reflecting , adapting , and deciding
• Career-life decisions are influenced by internal and external factors , including local and global trends
• Cultivating networks and reciprocal relationships can support and broaden careerlife awareness options
• Finding a balance between work and personal life promotes well-being
• Lifelong learning fosters career-life opportunities
Assessment is based on individual assignments and students will receive a percentage grade for this course . This grade will be standalone in Grade 10 , but will be used in combination with the Career-Life Education 11 mark to give a final blended percentage grade for the course at the end of Grade 11 .

Building upon skills from Career-Life Education 10 , students are encouraged to continue exploring a broad set of chosen pathways as they ponder continued career options . Students onboard skills to make contact with key network members to leverage their own understanding of specific jobs . In-depth investigations on educational institutions and future financial earning projections are completed to heighten awareness of salary growth and cost of living analyses . Students continue to identify transferable skills and revisit their own self awareness as they revise plans , and continue to tackle workplace issues while refining communication and social workplace skills .
