The aim of this course is to help students develop the knowledge and skills they need to make informed choices for their education , career and life outside of school . The complexity and fluidity of the modern workplace demands graduates who are able to navigate and build their own career paths while adapting to continual change . Through Career Education , students will understand how to effectively manage their life journey toward several possible preferred futures . Furthermore , they will learn relevant planning , problem-solving , and collaboration skills , as well as core communication , thinking , and personal and social competencies .
The Big Ideas explored in this course are :
• Career-life choices are made in a recurring cycle of planning , reflecting , adapting , and deciding
• Career-life decisions are influenced by internal and external factors , including local and global trends
• Cultivating networks and reciprocal relationships can support and broaden careerlife awareness options
• Finding a balance between work and personal life promotes well-being
• Lifelong learning fosters career-life opportunities
The course is a discussion-based , interactive course which is organized into three areas : personal development , connections to community , and life and career planning . Students will receive formative and summative feedback . Two graded assignments will be completed for Grade 8 .

The aim of this course is to help students develop the knowledge , skills , and attitudes , which will assist them in making informed decisions as they plan future education and career paths . In Career Education 9 , students will begin to explore the concepts of first impressions , begin to discover their skills , interests , motivations , personality and learning styles and then begin exploring careers . They will also begin to discover key concepts in workplace safety and understand the importance of their digital footprint .
The Big Ideas explored in this course are :
• Reflecting on our preferences and skills helps us identify the steps we need to take to achieve our career goals
• The value of work in our lives , communities , and society can be viewed from diverse perspectives .
• Achieving our learning goals requires effort and perseverance .
• Adapting to economic and labour market changes requires flexibility .
• Our career paths reflect the personal , community , and educational choices we make .
