demonstrated skills required for effective learning . Students ’ assessment will be designed in such a way as to make it possible to gather and show evidence of learning in a variety of ways to gradually release responsibility to the students , and to give multiple and varied opportunities to reflect on learning and receive detailed feedback . It will typically include tests , assignments , research projects and laboratory work .

AP Physics 1 covers Newtonian mechanics ( including rotational dynamics and angular momentum ); work , energy , and power ; and mechanical waves and sound . It will also introduce electric circuits . Students will study a number of complex situations , develop their scientific investigation skills as they test laws of physics and solve both assigned problems and those emerging from their investigations . Students will also consider the impact of technological applications of physics on society and the environment . This course is useful for students considering potential engineering , architecture , pre-med , science and computer science majors as well as anyone strongly interested in Physics . This course is highly analytical and prepares students for the AP Physics 1 examination offered by the College Board . Students must be adept at algebraic and numerical problem solving . It will typically include tests , assignments , research projects and laboratory work .
AP Physics 2 explores topics such as fluid statics and dynamics ; thermodynamics with kinetic theory ; PV diagrams and probability ; electrostatics ; electrical circuits with capacitors ; magnetic fields ; electromagnetism ; physical and geometric optics ; and quantum , atomic , and nuclear physics . Students will further develop their scientific investigation skills , learning , for example , how to analyse , qualitatively and quantitatively , data related to a variety of physics concepts and principles . Students will also consider the impact of technological applications of physics on society and the environment .
