FEATURED SESSION
3 A Child-Centered Approach to Fostering Inclusive STEM Experiences
Young children are natural born scientists, mathematicians, and engineers, yet children with disabilities are often denied science, technology, engineering, and mathematics( STEM) learning opportunities. The learning trajectories approach centers children in engaging playful experiences that build on their interests, needs, and critical thinking. In this session, we will explore case studies and view videos of children engaging in playful STEM experiences within everyday routines across early childhood environments. We will also use learning trajectories to intentionally plan STEM learning experiences that can support each child to reach their individualized goals and, simultaneously, their progressive development of STEM learning.
