All of these topics hold great importance when it comes to our youth. Our goal at ABUSE Magazine is to bring awareness to each of these issues and to provide the right resources.
The evidence keeps mounting that texting while driving is too often destructive and deadly.
Texting
One example of a fatal crash near Omaha, Nebraska in mid-July of this year is being blamed on the driver, due to texting while driving in the seconds prior to the crash. The crash on Old Lincoln Highway that killed two teenage females a 19 year old and an 18 year old girl has been blamed by the Pottawattamie County Sherrif’ s office on texting while driving.
The sherrif’ s department told WOWT. com, the website for one of Omaha’ s top local TV stations, that while the victims blood showed small traces of marijuana, there was no doubt that the driver who caused the accident was in the middle of texting when the accident occurred.
This is just one example of the thousands of teen deaths that occur each year that are due to the consequences of texting while driving, and substance ABUSE.
Bullying
Bullying is a common occurrence in most schools. According to the American Psychological Association, approximately“ 40 % to 80 % of school-age children experience bullying at some point during their educational years. Regardless of the grade level, environment, gender, religion, or sexual orientation, bullying can happen to anyone. Most children experience bullying at some point in their academic careers.
ABUSE Magazine would like to say thank you to all of our supporters and readers for your contributions and participation in helping us provide this free preventative educational magazine to your local schools.
With your help and support we can make a difference and reduce the sometimes tragic occurrences that stem from bullying, distractive driving, substance and sexual ABUSE. Sincerely,
