14 were going to sacrifice their dog! I still wonder what went through their heads and I bet there were a few stories going about those ‘weird’ people in the woods! The dogs were quite happy to join us. Everyone was so nice, made us feel so welcome and after the ceremony, we all shared some lovely food, brought by us all. The children were so well behaved and they were very welcomed by all. I am looking forward to the next ritual. Only next time, not being a virgin, but a novice! Thanks everyone for making me and Joan welcome. By Mariea Sweeting Abus Coritani Wisdom Circle: The Berkeley - 8th Feb 2014 We met again on a chilly Saturday afternoon in the cosy back room at the Berkeley for the Wisdom Circle. We have done this several times now and they prove very useful and informative. Prior to the meeting a call is put out for any questions people would like to ask or topics people would like to discuss. We can’t always find a definitive answer, but we sure can discuss our own perceptions and opinions. These meetings are by nature discursive and a great ice breaker for new friends and the curious. They are as much as anything- an easy going social occasion in sublime surroundings (Who’d have thought it in the middle of Scunthorpe – come along you’ll be pleasantly surprised! – I was!), and you can have an alcoholic drink or tea and coffee, it is child friendly (as the majority of our events are) and there is even a little play area with a few toys and colouring sheets. The questions are written down on pieces of paper and placed into a bag – to be drawn out one at a time by the attendees. It is read out and then discussed, or answered according to the knowledge and experiences of the people present. There are many tangents and it’s all to the good.
