We have been running occasional‘ wisdom circles’( idea originally from Andy Wells of the Corieltauvi Grove, thanks Andy!) for a while now, and the topics usually vary widely, but this time we decided to focus on one specific topic, which this time was past lives. A wisdom circle involves pre-prepared questions( sent into the group by members) pulled at random from a bag, and then the circle gives their own opinions on each of them in turn. The wonderful thing is, although there are so many different views and opinions, each are listened to with respect, and each and every one of us leaves with something new to think about.
We met at The Berkeley Hotel, and eventually, when latecomers arrived( either through getting lost of family commitments) there were 12 of us, a good number for a discussion. We discussed questions from the very basic“ What are past lives?” to the more complex“ Do we meet up with‘ soul families’ in each life?”
There seemed to be a general consensus of opinion that we do indeed live many lives and that it seems to be possible sometimes to access memories from these lives, either spontaneously through dreams etc, or more deliberately through regression( with a therapist) or meditation( alone). Denny told us about the idea, from astrology, that each different star sign has a different lesson to teach us and the idea that we are born into each sign in turn until these lessons are learned. Tina told us of a random meeting with a lady who owned a shop in Whitby who told her they had et before and felt moved to give her a very special gift. Patrick told us a few tales of past life regressions and the need for a therapist to be well trained and experienced enough to deal with whatever may come up.
The discussions were often of a serious nature, but the general feel of the meeting was, as always, warm, friendly and light hearted, and a good time was had by all.
