It is very clear that Chinese cuisine is different than Emirati foods; especially in their ingredients, spices, taste, and consequently their smell. For instance, when we compare the Chinese Wontons soup to the Emirati ‘Saloona’ we can clearly notice that they have more differences than similarities. The first difference is that ‘Saloona` can contain meat, chicken, or fish. However, the filling of Wontons can be either pork or shrimp. Also, each of them has its own color. Wontons soup is very light in color and very clear. While the color of ‘Saloona` is red because of tomato sauce; which is one of the important ingredients of the ‘Saloona`. Another difference is the flavor of Wontons soup which has a strong taste of ginger while the ‘Saloona` doesn't include ginger in its spices. The last difference is that ‘Saloona` is usually served with rice or bread but Wontons soup is eaten as a single dish. On the other hand, there are some similarities between both ‘Saloona` and Wontons soup. One of the similarities is that both of them contains fresh vegetables. Also, both can be a good choice to eat in winter because they are warm for the body. Overall, the differences between the two dishes are more than the similarities especially in terms of color, ingredients, flavor, and serving methods.
