On behalf of the Athletics Gauteng North family , it is my great honour to welcome the athletics fraternity to the first Absa RUN YOUR CITY event in the administrative capital of South Africa , the City of Tshwane . We are truly pleased and humbled to host such an extraordinary premier event with Stillwater Sports .

When proudly African bank , Absa , took over as title sponsor of the Absa RUN YOUR CITY Series , our biggest goal was not only to grow this platform , but also to galvanise people and use it as a vehicle to get closer to our colleagues and customers , and most importantly , communities . Our campaign , Together we can do more , Siyabangena , encourages colleagues , customers and community members to be an active force for good , and raise funds via a Strava community to donate towards community upliftment . For every 1km run or walked by a Team Absa member on the Strava App , the bank donates R1 to make a difference in the community .
Last year , we announced the extension of the Absa RUN YOUR CITY Series from three to five cities , with the addition of Gqeberha and Tshwane as host cities . We are happy that through the Absa Force for Good initiative , we will be able to change lives in Tshwane one kilometre at a time .
We promise to make the first race in the capital city one to remember , with participants creating good memories as they explore this beautiful city . Whether you ’ re an experienced runner or a beginner , the Absa RUN YOUR CITY TSHWANE 10K is the perfect opportunity to test yourself and push yourself to new limits .
Remember that this event is not just about individual achievement , but also about coming together as a community to celebrate good health and fitness . So , whether you ’ re running with friends , family or colleagues , take the time to enjoy the company of those around you , and soak up the energy and excitement of the day .
Through the Strava App , our Team Absa Walk / Run community and everyone that has participated on the running billboard as well as on race day , have raised over R830,000 by just clocking their kilometres . Tshwane , now it ’ s your turn to lace up and run the city , and I can ’ t wait to see you all at the finish line !

What a privilege it is to be in South Africa ’ s Capital City , Tshwane , for the 2023 Absa RUN YOUR CITY Tshwane 10k ! We extend a massive welcome to all runners and walkers , and thank you for your support and positive energy around the event .
Joining Gqeberha as one of the two new cities added in 2023 , Tshwane has welcomed the Absa RUN YOUR CITY series warmly , and as organisers and partners , we cannot be more excited to be in Tshwane for the first edition in the city . Adding Tshwane to the series has been long in the making ,
Road Running is a major contributor to athletics within the province , and we trust that our local athletes will support the event , to show that AGN is the province of athletics stars and heroes . We acknowledge the tireless work of the Local Organising Committee , as well as all staff who work behind the scenes to make things happen . The long hours of hard work have finally paid off , so let the running begin .
