SCHOOLS CHALLENGE

IS YOUR SCHOOL

READY TO RUN ?

In celebration of the Absa RUN YOUR CITY Series ’ Tshwane debut on Sunday 27 August , event organiser Stillwater Sports is excited to introduce an innovative Schools Challenge that is bound to spark healthy competition amongst the leading athletics schools in the region .

The inaugural Absa RUN YOUR CITY TSHWANE 10K not only brings the popular series to the capital city for the first time , but the race will also see a new challenge for younger runners form part of the event . “ The Schools Challenge is an exciting opportunity for learners to experience the Absa RUN YOUR CITY Series ,” says Michael Meyer , Managing Director of Stillwater Sports and Founder of the Absa RUN YOUR CITY Series .

“ Because a little ‘ friendly competition ’ goes a long way , all schools are encouraged to enter as many learners as possible . While fuelling a passion for the sport of road running , the challenge aims to excite junior runners and encourage team spirit , while generating friendly rivalries amongst other schools ,” he adds .
Great Prizes on Offer
The Schools Challenge will consist of separate divisions for boys and girls , with participation open to athletes aged 14 years and above . Schools can enter as many learners as possible , but only the top 10 finishing times in each division will be tallied , with incredible prizes being awarded to the top five boys ’ teams and top five girls ’ teams . The winning boys ’ and girls ’ teams will also take home a well-deserved Floating Trophy .
Here are prizes up for grabs by the top five boys ’ and girls ’ teams , whereby each of the top 10 runners per school will be awarded the following prizes : 1st Place : PUMA running shoes valued at R2000 + and a PUMA Cap 2nd Place : PUMA tracksuit and PUMA Cap 3rd Place : PUMA Bag and PUMA Cap 4th Place : PUMA T-shirt and PUMA Cap 5th Place : PUMA Cap
The Schools Wave will start in a specific batch , ensuring that all learners are grouped together , and athletes can display team cohesion by dressing alike , or wearing their school colours . “ We encourage the schools to incorporate the event T-shirt into their dress code . That way they ’ ll still be part of the ‘ sea of red ’ on event day ,” adds Meyer .
Open Invitation to Race
All schools are invited to take up the challenge and join us in Tshwane , ready to # RunYourCity . “ The Schools Challenge boasts a special discounted entry fee of R200 , and this includes a temporary licence ,” continues Meyer . “ To add a personal touch and make the process as enjoyable as possible , a dedicated ‘ Group Entries ’ collection point for the schools will be available at Race Pack Collection .”
