This will be third edition of what has quickly grown into one of Gqeberha’ s biggest and most enjoyable running experiences. The Absa RUN YOUR CITY Series events are known for their incredible vibe, offering participants a party on foot from start to finish of each 10K route, with fun sponsor activations and spirited local entertainers all out to support the athletes. So, we hope you’ re already practising your high-fives, fist-bumps, dance moves and smiling for the cameras, because that’ s what this race is all about.( And running and walking, of course!)
The scenic route in Gqeberha will take you through some of Gqeberha’ s ionic and historic landmarks, giving you the perfect backdrop to create unforgettable memories as you enjoy this unique way to explore your city. And it’ s also a really, really fast course. You may not know this, but you’ re about to run 10K on one of SA’ s fastest race routes. You see, in the first edition of the Absa RUN YOUR CITY GQEBERHA 10K in 2023, Precious Mashele clocked a scintillating 27:35 to break the men’ s SA Record for 10km. So, if you’ re looking for a fast course to set a personal best, the Absa RUN YOUR CITY GQEBERHA 10K is the race to go for it!

The Place To Be …
Starting and finishing in Beach Road, Humewood, the route leads runners along Marine Drive before looping into the scenic residential area of Summerstrand. They will then return along Marine Drive and Beach Road, before being welcomed home by the lively atmosphere of the Absa RUN YOUR CITY GQEBERHA 10K finish line and Race Village.
“ Runners can expect to pass iconic landmarks such as Shark Rock Pier, the historic Humewood Pillars, the Apple Express Heritage Train, popular beaches, the Boardwalk, and numerous well-known waterfront restaurants and bars,” continues Meyer.“ Whether you’ re an elite looking to break a record, a seasoned runner aiming to set a new personal best, or a newcomer absorbing the vibrant atmosphere, this route promises to be an unparalleled experience for all.”
