The vibrant streets of the Mother City will be painted red on Sunday 12 May when participants from all walks of life gather to take on the ninth edition of the iconic Absa RUN YOUR CITY CAPE TOWN 10K .
“ Welcome to Cape Town , Enjoy the party , Come on and have some fun , Cape Town ’ s number one !” So go the lyrics of the well-known song about the Mother City , and come 12 May , runners and walkers will get to experience the magic of Cape Town as they tackle the second race of the 2024 Absa RUN YOUR CITY Series .

The City of Cape Town says it is also thrilled to once again team up with the organisers of the event to host the world-class Absa RUN YOUR CITY CAPE TOWN 10K , says City of Cape Town ’ s Mayoral Committee Member for Safety and Security , JP Smith . “ Whether you call this vibrant city home or you ’ re visiting from afar , we would like to extend a warm welcome to all runners participating . This event not only showcases the beauty of our city , but also promotes an active and healthy lifestyle , encouraging citizens and visitors alike to explore and enjoy the vibrant streets of the Mother City .”
Where It ’ s All Happening
Starting at Woodbridge Island , Milnerton , and finishing in Lower Long Street , in the Cape Town CBD , the point-to-point route is flat and fast , geared for the elites to push for records , and every runner to chase a personal best . Many runners will park in the CBD and catch a bus from the Grand Parade to the start , then enjoy the festive , lively atmosphere all along the route , courtesy of sponsors , partners and local performing groups . It ’ s literally a party on foot from start to finish !
“ Runners can expect to pass by iconic landmarks while enjoying a spectacular view of Table Mountain throughout most of the race ,” continues Meyer . “ Whether you ’ re an elite looking to break a record , a seasoned runner aiming to set a new personal best , or a newcomer absorbing the vibrant atmosphere , this route promises to be an unparalleled experience for all .”
