PACESETTERS
FIND YOUR
PERFECT PACE
Whether you ’ re aiming for a 40-minute finish or planning to cruise home in 90 minutes at the Absa RUN YOUR CITY CAPE TOWN 10K , you can run with one of the official pacesetting buses and let our experienced pacesetters help you achieve your race goal .
At the front end of the Absa RUN YOUR CITY CAPE TOWN 10K , the leading men will be looking to run a time of around 27 to 28 minutes , if not faster , in order to win the race , while the top women will need something around 31 to 32 minutes to take line honours . However , they will not be the only athletes aiming for a time goal when the starting gun is fired .
All runners taking part in the race , right the way to the back of the pack , will have their own race goals and pacing targets to chase . For that reason , there will be official Absa RUN YOUR CITY Pacesetters in action on race day , and all runners are invited to catch one of the ‘ buses ’ driven by these experienced volunteers , who will help you to reach your target time . There will be multiple buses , so that runners in different start batches can go after their preferred target time .

Where to Find the Pacers
You will be able to identify the official pacesetters on race day by their Puma kit and official pacing flags , showing their target times and their names . We ’ ve asked all the pacesetters to be at the start about 30 minutes before the race start , so that runners can find them and meet them before the run . The pacesetters will line up at the start according to their pace times , with faster pacesetters near the front of the field , and slower pacesetters closer to the back of the field .
So , look out for the guys and girls with the flags at the start , or along the route , and either run with them in the bus , or use them as a gauge of your own pace and finishing time .
