Local Charities

While you ’ re running the Absa RUN YOUR CITY CAPE TOWN 10K , you can make a difference in the lives of others by supporting one of the event ’ s five official charities .

The South African running community is always willing to support worthy causes , and when entering the Absa RUN YOUR CITY CAPE TOWN 10K , athletes can support one or all five of the event ’ s charities : Cape of Good Hope SPCA , Cotlands , help2read , Die Burger Kinderfonds and Reach For A Dream .

“ We are passionate about the sport of road running for many reasons , but what makes it really special is the people ,” says Michael Meyer , Managing Director of Stillwater Sports and Founder of the Absa RUN YOUR CITY Series . “ Runners are generous by nature , and this is evident by the support that the event ’ s charities have received through the years . We are thankful to every entrant for contributing . No donation is too small , and will enable these charities to continue making a difference in the lives of so many individuals and animals .”

DIE BURGER-KINDERFONDS
For the past 60 years , Die Burger-Kinderfonds has been enriching children ’ s lives through educational tours to Cape Town . The focus of this non-profit organisation shifted in 2019 when Die Burger-Strandhuis was sold , and now the charity invests directly in the wellbeing of less fortunate children in our communities . The official focus of this year ’ s campaign is to get children who suffer trauma the necessary counselling and therapy with the help of the ACVV and Badisa . REACH FOR A DREAM FOUNDATION
COTLANDS ( WESTERN CAPE )

Cotlands exists to close this access gap by offering innovative programmes that promote play-based learning , including toy libraries and playgroups to reach marginalised children , as well as nutritional , health and parental support for children attending Cotlands early learning playgroups .
