Message from the Editor Recipe for success The life of a South African businessman or woman is no picnic. To survive, you need to be prepared to take risks, stay up late, be creative and battle the forces against you. In my experience, the persistence and resilience of South African businessmen and women is remarkable. Many business professionals and leaders push themselves harder and harder every day in an effort to win in their professional lives, only to find that they are losing in their personal lives. Interestingly enough, many of them feel that this approach is a necessary sacrifice they have to make. The “winning at all costs” mindset and the “success equals sacrifice” motto have become deeply etched in successful people’s lives. Discipline keeps a successful person focused even when times get tough. One of the best pieces of advice I can give is to stay disciplined and organised. Schedule your work stress – never far behind. Stress will grind you down slowly but surely, unless you lead a balanced, healthy lifestyle. Keep in mind that work is just one aspect of your life. When you success and pleasure will get you the most out of life. In success remain humble, courageous and determined. Be faithfully and fearful. That is who you are.
