Ferrari ' s retractable hard top( RHT) allows it to function as both a genuine coupé and a true spider. This feature ensures that the car ' s exceptional performance can be enjoyed in all conditions, which enhances the connection with the environment and intensifies driving emotions. For optimal comfort, a new wind catcher has been designed and placed behind the seats to minimize cabin turbulence.
Sitting at the top of Ferrari’ s open-top lineup, The 849 Testarossa Spider delivers thrilling performance without sacrificing ride comfort or interior refinement. With a design that is both futuristic and deeply rooted in history, the vehicle is crafted for the most discerning clients who demand the best from a Ferrari. This is also why a legendary name from Maranello’ s past, Testa Rossa, has been revived.
First appearing on the 500 TR in 1956, it described the red cam covers of Ferrari ' s most extreme, high-performance racing engines. Later, in 1984, it became the name of one of the marque ' s most famous road-going models, the Testarossa.
The Spider boasts a plug-in hybrid( PHEV) system, featuring an 830 cv twin-turbo V8 engine paired with three electric motors, a high-voltage battery, and an inverter. This combination delivers an additional 220 cv, elevating the powertrain ' s total output to an unprecedented 1050 cv for a production Ferrari. The PHEV powertrain ' s architecture in the 849 Testarossa Spider is meticulously engineered to optimize performance, vehicle dynamics, and overall usability.
Ferrari ' s latest twin-turbo V8, the F154FC, delivers 830 cv, a 50 cv increase from its
predecessor, with a specific output of 208 cv / l. This performance boost was achieved through a complete revision of components, including a new turbo, cylinder heads, engine block, exhaust manifolds, intake plenums, titanium fasteners, valve train system, and fuel rail, all while maintaining the same displacement.
A key enhancement is the larger turbocharger, featuring F80-derived low-friction bearings and a 296 GT3-inspired heat shield on the turbine casing for improved thermal management. To minimize turbo lag and maintain engine responsiveness, the compressor wheels and turbine have been optimized for materials and aerodynamics,
complemented by a refined calibration strategy. Additionally, the intercooler has been optimized to handle the increased power and enhance thermal efficiency. Engine power has been significantly increased without a substantial weight penalty. This was achieved through race-inspired machining, lightened camshafts, and titanium screws, resulting in an almost 10 % improvement in the weight-to-power ratio compared to the SF90 Spider.
The Inconel ® exhaust manifold now features a 20 % increase in duct diameter and a 10 % increase in length, enhancing performance
