Pather emphasizes that robust safety protocols start with thorough risk identification and mitigation. He elaborates that businesses can enhance the safety of their workforce, customers, and the environment by performing effective risk assessments and ensuring employees understand chemical storage hazards. Furthermore, Pather underscores the importance of continuous employee training, utilizing Safety Data Sheets( SDS), and having containment measures in place for potential incidents.

Bidvest International Logistics’ National Compliance & Risk Manager, Lawrence Aldworth, outlined key sustainable practices for 2025. EMERGING TECHNOLOGY IN WAREHOUSING AND LOGISTICS Smart warehousing is increasingly vital for safe and efficient chemical storage. Automated systems offer real-time monitoring of temperature, inventory, and product age, optimizing handling and reducing waste. According to Pather,“ Real-time inventory tracking allows warehouses to manage compatibility risks and ensure that non-compatible chemicals are not stored together.” Aldworth also stated that“ AI-driven insights will enable logistics providers to identify risks, enhancing safety and cost-efficiency proactively,” emphasizing the growing importance of predictive analytics in minimizing compliance issues.
CAPACITY, DESIGN, AND EVOLVING DEMANDS South African chemical producers are adopting smaller, taller warehouses to optimize space. This design reduces the required land area while increasing storage capacity. For temperaturesensitive chemicals, businesses can utilize reefer containers or establish dedicated temperature-controlled areas within their facilities. These warehousing design trends address the necessity for both temperature control and specialized storage for hazardous materials.
