Female Bosch technicians brought to the fore
Auto Expedi8, a group of female partner-owned Bosch car service centers, is making strides in technical training. Operating across six branches in the South of Johannesburg and the Springs Mall, they are currently training female technicians. Notably, two of these trainees are set to become the world ' s first female Bosch Master Technicians.
In operation for 18 years, employs women in both technical and administrative capacities. Managing Director, Jenene Cronning, reaffirmed the group ' s dedication to creating more technical opportunities for women, as evidenced by the accomplishments of their female trainees and certified technicians.
The Bosch Master Technician programme offers extensive training in vehicle diagnostics, electronic systems, engine management, and advanced automotive technologies. This specialisation equips technicians with the knowledge to accurately diagnose, repair, and maintain the latest vehicle models, ensuring they remain current with industry advancements and emerging technologies. The curriculum focuses on modern automotive systems, including driver assistance systems and high-voltage components, preparing technicians to perform complex repairs with precision.
“ The certification is internationally recognised with training aimed at improving workshop efficiency, reducing customer wait times, and enhancing overall service quality. With expertise spanning petrol, diesel, electronics, brakes, and electric vehicle systems, Bosch Master Technicians are highly qualified to meet the evolving demands of the global automotive industry,” said Ms Cronning.
Female employees include Zipho Sihiya, a qualified mechanic, Robin Khosa, an apprentice mechanic, and Stephanie Cronning, an apprentice and master technician trainee( the highest international technical certification offered by Bosch). Ms. Cronning stated that all employees receive mechanical training, with some advancing to customer-facing advisory roles.
The group employs a structured recruitment and training process for apprentices. Applicants must meet specific educational requirements, demonstrate mechanical aptitude, and pass the official Bosch workshop test.

Staff also have access to international training through Bosch’ s global curriculum, with selected individuals eligible for overseas development programs. These international opportunities ensure employees remain current with advancements in vehicle servicing technology.
In addition to increasing female participation, Auto Expedi8 has expanded its physical footprint with the recent opening of its sixth branch at Springs Mall. Other existing locations include Gateway Alberton, Alberton City, The Reef Germiston, Mall of the South, and
Rifle Range in the South of Johannesburg.
The branches are equipped with modern diagnostic equipment and operate in accordance with Bosch’ s international service standards.
The company recently achieved a 100 % rating in its most recent audit from Robert Bosch head office in Germany across all its branches. The audit assessed various criteria, including compliance with Bosch’ s global operating standards, the use of genuine Bosch parts, customer service quality, technical expertise, and environmental and safety regulations. Staff training programs were also evaluated to ensure employees meet required technical and operational benchmarks.
Ms. Cronning emphasized the importance of maintaining quality standards across all service centers, with the company using genuine Bosch and OE-approved parts, such as oil filters, spark plugs, alternators, brake discs and pads, and air conditioning components.
