driveline tools
Three new innovative driveline tools from SKF enable technicians to fit Constant Velocity
(CV) boots and tighten boot clamps simply and effectively for both passenger cars and
light commercial vehicles.
T
he recently-launched SKF clamp
tools (VKN 400 and VKN 401) enable
a tight and even fit, while the SKF
expander tool (VKN 402) facilitates the
fitting of universal boots, making significant
savings on repair times and
consequently reducing costs
for the end-user.

The SKF clamp tools are supplied in
two variants: the VKN 400 is designed
for universal clamps and the VKN 401
for ear clamps. These tools enable
mechanics to fasten boot clamps tightly
and accurately, guaranteeing reliable,
long-term performance of the boot and
consequently the CV-Joint.
The SKF expander is a CE-marked
pneumatic tool that can be used
unplugged from the pneumatic air
intake during fitting.
Both the SKF VKN 400 and VKN 401
are safe and easy to use. With the VKN
400 there is no need to use scissors or
cutters to cut universal clamps.
The launch of the new SKF driveline
tools underlines SKF’s commitment
to supporting mechanics with
solutions that enable them to
improve performance and enhance
efficiency.
The SKF expander tool (VKN 402)
enables universal boots to be fitted
quickly and easily since there is no
need to dismount the CV-Joint and,
in most cases, no need to remove the
driveshaft from the car.
The SKF expander tool (VKN 402) and
the SKF clamp tools (VKN 400 and VKN
401) help mechanics to ensure correct
fitting every time, as well as optimum
performance and a longer life of the
components.
The SKF expander tool (VKN 402) has been
specifically designed for the reliable fitting
of universal boots without the need to
remove the CV-Joint from the shaft, saving
time and reducing costs.
The pneumatic tool is CE-marked
and can be used unplugged
from the pneumatic air intake
during the fitting. Lighter than
competitors’ tools, it fits boots
up to 115 mm CV-Joint external
diameter. No physical effort is
required to expand the CV boot.
