Chery is setting records everywhere.
Chery has become the first Chinese automaker to surpass a milestone sales benchmark, selling 20 million vehicles globally.
Although Chery does not trade in the world ' s wealthiest car market – North America – it is present in more than 130 other countries and regions worldwide. This includes a significant presence in South Africa, where Chery and its associated sub-brands are now the second-largest automotive passenger car entity in sales.
The achievement of selling more than 20 million units is deeply impressive. It proves that China ' s powerful regional industrial policies and incentives work. Chery was founded in 1997, and by 2007, it had surpassed 1 million sales; becoming the first Chinese car company to do so. Chery ' s success has been its internationalisation, conquering markets outside of China.
For 23 years, Chery has been China ' s biggest automotive exporter, conquering markets such as Australia, the United Kingdom, and South Africa. For context, Chery ships an export vehicle every 17 seconds. The growth trajectory is incredible, with Chery ' s exports rising 71 % year over year.
