EQUALISING ICONIC RECORDS
WRC Records for Toyota
Toyota remains the dominant force in rallying, setting several new records during the FIA World Rally Championship ' s South American campaign.
The Toyota Gazoo Racing Yaris has been nearly unbeatable in the 2026 WRC. At the recent Rally Chile, Oliver Solberg took overall victory, giving Toyota its sixth consecutive FIA World Rally Championship manufacturers ' title. It was also Toyota ' s 11th win from 12 events this season. And tellingly, it was an eighth one-two finish for the Toyota GR Yaris.
The son of legendary Norwegian WRC driver Petter Solberg, Oliver was deeply grateful for his win, which has counterbalanced a volatile season. " It was always my dream to drive for Toyota, and for me to be able to play a small part for the first time in winning a manufacturers ' title feels very special. It also feels incredible to be back on the top step of the podium. "
The Toyota Gazoo Racing team now has six successful championships. That matches the record set by Lancia during its hugely successful period from 1987 to 1992, when the iconic Integrale hatchbacks were unbeatable and became a global motorsport icon.
Another Lancia record that Toyota ' s rally team has now equalled is the total number of championships. Lancia and Toyota now both have ten manufacturer championships. With the Gazoo Racing Yaris being untouchable and two rounds remaining in the 2026 WRC schedule, it ' s evidently a given that Toyota will end the season as the most successful manufacturer in WRC history, eclipsing Lancia ' s legacy.
EQUALISING ICONIC RECORDS
Lancia may be an irrelevant brand today, but its WRC history is immense. Lancia contested some of the greatest WRC victories and most intriguing championship battles from the 1970s to the early 1990s. With its enormous success at Rally Chile, Toyota has now equalled two legacy WRC records, both held by Lancia.
