Ford Optimises Powertrain Line-Up for Ranger and Everest

Ford South Africa is overhauling its powertrain selection for the popular Ranger and Everest models. Key updates include the introduction of the 2.3-litre EcoBoost petrol engine.

Furthermore, the robust 3.0L V6 turbo diesel will be available in a wider range of derivatives, complementing the existing 2.0L turbo diesel. As part of this revised line-up, the 2.0L Bi-Turbo diesel engine will be discontinued
The highly-regarded 2.3-litre EcoBoost petrol engine is now available, offering customers an appealing new powertrain choice. This engine is specifically calibrated for the Ranger and Everest, building on its strong performance and advanced technology already proven in Ford vehicles worldwide. It delivers a combination of enhanced driving refinement and robust performance.
This turbocharged, direct-injection, inline 4-cylinder engine, with its lightweight aluminium block and turbocharger, delivers 222 kW of power and 452 Nm of torque, ensuring a responsive power delivery across a broad rev range, promising smooth and efficient performance when paired with Ford ' s advanced 10-speed automatic transmission.
The proven, capable, and affordable 2.0L turbo diesel engine receives an upgrade, including a new timing chain for enhanced durability and performance. For the first time, this robust engine will be paired with the 10-speed automatic transmission, now featuring updated calibration, on the XL and XLT models. Additionally, the popular 3.0L V6 turbo diesel will be available across a wider model range, with further details to be announced soon.
