TOURING IS BETTER FOR PARTNERS

Summer Touring supercar success

VELOCE SUPERCAR SOCIETY PROVES HOW REWARDING AN EAST COAST TOURING EXPERIENCE CAN BE FOR DRIVERS AND

outh Africa has some of the world’ s greatest driving roads and unquestionably

Sthe greatest year-round driving weather.

The iconic European driving routes of the 1960s and 1970s have now become too heavily trafficked, with all modes of transport, to serve the needs of driving enthusiasts. A reality that has forced more and more European supercar owners to consider shipping or basing their vehicles in South Africa, where they can enjoy the country’ s incredible diversity of routes, landscapes and reasonably open, under-trafficked roads.
A supercar in traffic is the worst possible ownership experience. These are cars designed to operate on open, flowing roads, without the constraints of traffic. Track days have appeal. But insurance coverage can become complicated, and the crash risk, often due to other track-day participants, makes it an uncomfortable risk for most supercar owners.
TOURING IS BETTER FOR PARTNERS
With support vehicles sweeping and without the pressure of stage or lap timing, drivers and their passengers could immerse themselves in the splendour of touring down South Africa’ s splendid East Coast.
The Veloce Super Society knows that owning a supercar in South Africa can be deeply rewarding, but also recognises the challenges posed by local road and traffic conditions. That’ s why events like the Summer Tour, are structured to take in the best roads when they are at their quietest, allowing participants to enjoy the experience.
The issue with track days is that they are limited to a single venue. And not all supercar owners want to risk the tyre wear, potential brake overheating, or vehicle strain that can happen at a track. For partners, a track day can feel involved. That’ s where the Veloce Supercar Society Summer Tour offers a better experience for partners and passengers: it ' s point-to-point with a terrific overnight venue, unlike a trackday, which is limited to a single venue and where hospitality isn’ t the priority.
On the Summer Tour, partners felt more part of the events and driving experience, able to take in the scenery and experience the anticipation and excitement of a daily change of location and overnighting venues.
The alternative is a tour. A theme on the traditional European Grand Touring( GT) experience, where a convoy of supercars follows a set route, without any speeding or timing pressure, but with all the support that allows owners to surrender themselves to the magnificence of the road and the immersive driving experience of their vehicles.
That’ s what the Veloce Supercar Society is doing, with events like its Summer Tour. Held during February, the 2026 Summer Tour was an East Coast odyssey. Structured to take in the best driving roads and venues, journeying from Gauteng to Umhlanga on day 1, and then taking in Morgan Bay, St Francis and George, on consecutive days.
