Hear the Buzz

I ’ lI share the following letter with the Isochron Media team of editors , contributors , and even our printer . In these challenging times in which those that take the time and effort to create actual printed publications are being drowned by daily digital platforms , it was cathartic to hear this one reader ’ s feedback . My thanks to our reader
Rob for taking the time to reach out .

To all , BEST . ISSUE . EVER . Thank you !
I rarely write feedback letters or fill out surveys , but I got goosebumps when I saw this issue in the mailbox , and after viewing , felt compelled to thank you . It ’ s been a while since we ’ ve had an issue , and it was totally worth the wait . ( Trying not to reread too fast , to enjoy all week ).
I ’ ve been a fan of yours for many years , and have made some great purchases because of your in-depth review and pictures . But this compilation of About Time and iW made my week ! Yes , I ’ m kinda boring , but what an issue . The combo of AT and iW made for a variety of viewing watches in my range , and pieces to which I aspire . ( The Gruebel Forsey - gorgeous ; new TAG Heuer - in my range an on my list ).
Because of you , my collection includes watches from Dan Henry , Detroit Watch Co ., Scuderia , Shinola and Ocean Crawler , and all are now proudly displayed and worn . I loved the About Time focus on watches of $ 2,400 or less .
I agree it ’ s very hard in our Covid environment not to physically touch and view . But your magazine , with the great pictures , details and editorials ( Jeff Stein - great interview ) allow us minor collectors to get more views and detail than just “ surfing the WWW .” ( A car magazine reviewer wrote that auto shows this coming year would be “ virtual ”. Her comment was “ looking at cars on the internet is NOT a car show , it ’ s a Tuesday ”). That ’ s why your magazine , especially this one , brings us as close to being there as possible .
Hopefully , publishing hand-held , non-electronic issues will continue and be profitable for you . I ’ m aware of some of the many changes ( people and publishing ) you ’ ve had in the past couple of years , and hope that this new direction and format is successful . Advertisers seem to think ads only work on the web , but us old folks think there ’ s nothing like turning the pages and reading about great watch in person .
I subscribed ( years ago ) and signed up on internet viewing and would like to continue my subscription commitment to your magazine . Publishing 4 times a year is fine . Let me know if there ’ s a process to do that . Thanks for the great compilation , and sending me this beautiful piece of art .
Stay well . Thanks , Rob
