“
“THESE WATCHES SOLD OUT TO ALL OUR
DISTRIBUTORS IN JUST FOUR DAYS”
– IGOR ZUBOVSKIJ
tion North Pole watch line with a 43mm version. It is normally 48. In
so doing they also moved to the VK64 mecha-quartz movement
from Seiko TMI. For the automatics they stayed with the tried and
true NH35.
The new 43mm came out just a few weeks back and judging by
the response, it looks like they made the right decision.
“These watches sold out to all our distributors in just four days,”
said Igor Zubovskij, the managing director of Vostok-Europe. “It is the
fastest sell out we have ever had.”
As a result, Zubovskij and his team are looking at other models in
the lineup to see if a smaller version makes since, such as the
N1 Rocket.
“We have no plans to abandon larger watches,” Zubovskij said.
“We have a base of customers who demand them. But we know now
there is room for side-by-side collections that are appealing to watch
buyers who like smaller watch cases.”
All of the other specs are effectively the same as the 48mm
version of the Expedition, except VE added an anti-reflective coating to
this model’s crystal. They are all water resistance to 20 atmospheres,
which makes them professional grade dive watches. They come on
a triple layer leather strap, sport 3 mm thick K1 mineral crystals and
have a clean look with broad dials due to not having a rotating bezel.
Nato, silicone and bracelet options are also available.
The mecha-quartz offers the added feature of a snap-back func-
tion on the chronograph for speed timing between close events. And if
you hit the reset button before hitting the stop button it won’t damage
the movement, like it can in other engines.
This new line is available at R2AWatches.com, Altivo.com.,
Greattiming.com and visit Vostok-Europe.com for more info about the
brand. This line starts at $350.
