A
AMERICAN BRANDS
HIGHER CALIBER
Averitas’ founder Michael Grady appreciates American
manufacturing with an educated eye on engineering. And so
he should since he owns a company that manufactures critical
metal components manufactured to micron tolerances for the
optical industry. Combining his existing knowhow and his love
of watches, Grady decided to create the AVeritas brand.
Details of design abound in both obvious and subtle ways.
The coin-edge bezel on the bezel and crown are classics
that immediately grab the eye, but even the smallest details
have had Mr. Grady’s scrutiny. From the refined 42mm (316)
stainless steel case to the sapphire crystals that sandwich the
beautifully decorated movements within, Mr. Grady’s finished
watches are superbly finished and executed. Although AVeritas
watches are a bit more expensive, there is little that you see
is “off the shelf”. To put it in perspective, the leather straps he
uses cost more than a lot of complete watches you’ll find in this
issue! Hand stitched in the USA by David Lane, they are truly a
next-level item and feel rich in the hand and on the wrist.
Featured here are a couple of the manual-wind mechanicals
that fit nicely into the AboutTime price range. The Force 1
and the Primus are $1,849 and $1,489 respectively and are
individually tested to a real 5atm water resistance.
Take either of these two AVeritas watches off the wrist and
the view of the reverse side view really emphasizes the byline
“intricata decoris” – or intricate beauty. Custom finishes on well
executed manual wind movements meld together the worlds of
art and engineering in a movement garbed in sartorial splendor.
Every Averitas carries a five year warrantee on
manufacturing defects and are individually made to order. Find
them at www.AVeritas.com
