LYTT LABS Inception V1.0 After two years of research and development, Lytt Labs launched its first watches in 2017 with the Inception V1.0. This technical timepiece used vibrant colors to get your attention with a result that was finally achieved by anodizing aluminum. As an evolution of the original, the V1.1 in steel exhibits a monochromatic effect as well as improved clarity and readability while staying true to the original. The hour and minute discs have been redesigned with larger number fonts, reduced markings, and textures. Under the (quadruple) coated sapphire crystal, the addition of luminescent paint to all significant areas of the dial enhances visibility in the dark. The Inception V1.1 is available in 3 case/indicator options with matching straps and a price point that ranges from $799-$879. TACS The AVL II TACS set out to design a watch that spoke to the photographers and videographers out there – and clearly they have succeeded. The AVL II leaves little doubt as to it inspiration. This is a big watch at 46mm wide and 16mm tall, but the design carries the weight nicely. Look closely on the bezel and dial and the various design cues inspired from photography compliment the over-all effect. A fish-eye sapphire magnifies the dial on the front, while a flat sapphire allows a view of the Miyota automatic from the back. Rated to 10atm, this stainless steel watch won’t actually take a picture, but it will tell a story and makes for a great look for photography enthusiast. Retail price is a very fair $550.
