The world’s first light-powered watch for 1,000-meter saturation diving,
the Eco-Drive Professional Diver 1000m has a helium escape valve
designed to prevent damage to the watch upon decompression. The
Professional Diver has been subjected to rigorous tests, including one
that maintains the watch for fifteen days in a pressurized, helium gas-
filled chamber. It is then tested within three minutes of reverting back
to atmospheric pressure to insure its continuous performance. The
Eco-Drive Cal. J210 runs for about 2.5 years on full charge using the
power save feature.
As for water resistance, Citizen doubled up its proprietary butyl
rubber, which minimizes helium entry and keeps its shape for an
extended period. The watch’s larger size (52.5mm), spherically shaped
crystal, crown with lock mode, and helium escape valve at 10 o’clock
all work in concert to achieve greater water resistance as well.
The watch’s clamshell case design is crafted from Super Titanium
in combination with the proprietary Duratect, a surface hardening
technology that improves both shock resistance and scratch resis-
tance. The bezel has an anti-reverse mechanism with locking feature,
and when the bezel lock is set to “free,” an orange warning color is
revealed.
The indexes and hands on the Professional Diver 1000m’s black
dial are treated with luminous paint that has 2.2 times the afterglow
brightness when compared to a conventional paint, which means you
will benefit from high visibility under most light conditions. Additional at-
