M Mechanicals Dietrich OT Retro styles may be popular among the majority of watch brands, but don’t tell that to team Dietrich. Their ‘organic’ multi part case and layered dial have been an instant success and a worthy standout in a sea of me-too designs. The OT series does not feature diver’s or pilot’s types, they are not classical or even the vogue ‘sport casual’ design. Instead they are a blend of superb flowing lines manufactured for ergonomic comfort and priced within reason. While previous editions have used brushed and polished steel, or PVD coatings and other materials on the bezel, the new series caps this same 316 L steel case with a forged carbon bezel creating a random and unique pattern for each watch. The new compression forged carbon fiber bezels are available in an all-black version, with a splash of color added to the interstices of the fibers, or even a Halloween special with integrated SuperLuminova that only shows its presence when the lights go out. Inside all versions is a modified Miyota automatic mechanical movement visible through the back, and all versions share the tool-free quick-change strap design. Prices range from $1,400-$1,950 for Dietrich’s OT series with the forged carbon prices hovering around the top end of that spectrum. www.dietrichamerica.com 12 | AboutTime Magazine
