Lew & Huey
Orthos represents the first attempt at a true diving watch from
the American based Lew & Huey brand. Rated to 30 atm, the
new Orthos adds a unidirectional 120-click rotating diving bezel
to the solid Cerberus design and caps the 42 mm case with a
slightly domed and anti-reflective sapphire crystal. Melding vintage and modern styling cues the Orthos can come across as
quasi-traditional in black or blue dials, or off the wall in orange,
green, or even purple sunburst dial versions. Well protected
inside the steel case beats a Seiko caliber NH35 automatic
movement. MSRP $625. www.janistrading.com
Melbourne
36 mm used to be a full-sized men’s wristwatch in the era
before quartz watches came on to the market. Today, 36mm
is more commonly seen as a uni-sex – or even ladies size.
However, If you don’t need or prefer an over-size behemoth on
your wrist and still love the tic of a mechanical watch on your
wrist the Parkville might just be a good fit. Seiko’s NH35 automatic movement resides within and a scratch resistant sapphire
crystal protects the guilloche’–pattern dial. Retail price is $325
