There was a definite feeling of Spring in the air as the day started off fresh and crisp . The anticipation and excitement were tangible as the first 10km runners huddled up on the start line ready to tackle the unknown and head out into the pristine bush of the Reserve .
Running past Lake Gwithian to the grunts of hippos , most certainly helped speed up the arduous climb to the top of World ’ s View , where at 7kms into the race , the competitors could rehydrate at the Time Projects Water Stop . After re-fuelling , the runners set off back down to the Start / Finish area to continue or hand over the baton for the next leg , which is the first 15km bike ride .
