Recently, I had the immense joy and privilegeof participating in ceremonies that united the Peoples and Nations of North, Central, and South America in a moving and profound encounter. And I'm not referring to the countries formed in the image and likeness of colonizing Europe. I'm talking about the Original Peoples of the Americas.
Brought together by a spiritual and cultural awakening, and with a desire to share an ancient legacy that had been hidden for 500 years, but that had always been transmitted orally across generations, descendants of the Mapuche, Lakota, Michica, and Maya shared ceremonies and songs that speak to us of a World in harmony with Life.
To move forward and forge the New World that so many of us long for, and which is already here for those with eyes to see, it is necessary to know where we come from and our place in the Creation of the World.
For a few hours, the wind, the sand, the animal and plant life, the rocks and seeds, the four directions, along with the Sun and Pachamama, shared their profound legacy with a diverse group of participants of different ages, traditions, and customs, but united in the words of Atahualpa Yupanqui: "I have so many brothers, I cannot count them, and a very beautiful bride, whose name is Liberty."
THANKS to Ñamkurupay, Carlos Eagle Feather, and Carlos Alvarado for rekindling the energy of Munay Ki and to Yolanda for bringing us together.
