Exploring Route 40

National Route 40 is one of the most iconic and extensive highways in Argentina. It runs north to south for approximately 5,194 kilometers, from the city of La Quiaca in the province of Jujuy, near the border with Bolivia, to Cabo Vírgenes in the province of Santa Cruz, at the southern tip of the country, in Patagonia.
Highlights of Route 40:
1. Diversity of Landscapes: Route 40 passes through a wide variety of landscapes, including mountains, valleys, deserts, lakes, and glaciers. It is known for offering spectacular views of the Andes Mountains.

3. Altitude: The route reaches its highest point at Abra del Acay, in the province of Salta, at an altitude of approximately 4,895 meters above sea level, making it one of the highest roads in the world.
